The Teenage Brain: The Stress Response and the Adolescent Brain


This a scientific journal article that reminds us that the fight or fight response can be useful, but only when it is not prolonged or constantly engaged. The adolescent brain may be more sensitive to triggers for fight or flight, leading to more stress hormones in the body. For teens in particular, chronic stress can have far-reaching implications such as the development of anxiety, among other mental health disorders.
